Design duo Storm Thorgerson Aubrey Powell better known by their collective name Hipgnosis are renowned in the music world for creating iconic cover art for rock and roll greats. From Pink Floyd to Paul McCartney, Hipgnosis have been behind some of the most well know and well loved album artworks, shaping the aesthetic of the music industry since the late 1960s. This new series of limited editions brings the images back to life as archival inkjet prints, each one in beautiful, never before seen, clarity. ‘Freeze Frame Godly and Creme’ is a reprint of the 1979 Godly and Creme album of the same name. Erring on the side of surrealism, the image features two faceless figures crouched in a clinical space, their bodies awash with palomino patterns. It’s a lasting image, even removed from its musical context, saturated with Dali esque overtones. A must have for the Godly and Creme fan, the retro music collector, and anyone with a keen eye for the iconic.
